Bailey, Me again. If I'm not wrong, I think that you get wrong concept (probably we both are wrong <g>). From my modest understanding, when you are in 512 or 756 lines resolution, interlaced, the targa is "outputting" (is this the right word?) an NTSC signal (14.318 MHZ, H:15.734 KHz, V:30 Hz). The diferences are in the way the signal is sending to the monitor/VTR. The Targa+ has three outputs: composite video, SVHS Y/C, and RGB output. The Targa has an encoder/decoder for the first two outputs, and the RGB is "pure" video output, with the three channels (Red, Green and Blue) and one H/V sync channel (difficult to translate this -simple- concepts from spanish). The encoder/decoder of the Targa has less quality than those (expensive) profesional encoders/decoders or one of those others transcoders. So, for the best output you'll need an external device to convert those separate signals for an output that will be accepted by your video. Or you can take an VTR that admit direct RGB input (because they have an encoder/decoder, transcoder or whatever it's inside of it -and please (this is for one of those wonderfull master gurus that forms the evanescent spirit of this marvellous forum <g>) if I'm wrong, COULD YOU EXPLAIN IT TO ME TOO??? <- Sorry, but this things happens when you have just become from read Ionesco's The Bald Soprano 🙂 Ana
