Barbara,
I am not an expert at this sort of thing but I would advise that
you stick to your plan of using ProDraw or just scanning them straight
in..
I have been using XCAD 3000 for a while now, and unless your floor plans
have to be to scale there is no need to get involved in CAD. IMHO CAD is
not a fast way of creating drawings, just an accurate one.
Most CAD software I have seen operating has quite learning curve too
;-).
