#CD termination probs?
To you CD drive gurus:
I've got an external Toshiba 3401 CD drive connected to an Future Domain SCSI
controller. I also have an internal Seagate ST296N SCSI hard drive connected
to the intenal bus (while the CD is on th external bus). The hard drive has
the terminating resistors on it, but I don't know about the CD drive. The
manual that came with the Toshiba is a preliminary one and it only covers the
internal model (I haven't gotten in touch with Tohiba yet — if anyone knows
their number let me know <g>). It mentions a jumper for termination, but
that's the internal one. The external has 2 Cenronics connectors, audio out,
and address selector, but nothing with termination.
OK, now the symptoms: If the CD drive is off (address 2), the hard drive is
seen (address 0). If the CD drive is on, the hard drive isn't seen, but the CD
is.
Is this a symptom of the CD drive not being terminated? We have some of these
drives here at work, and none have the Centronics-type terminator, and they all
work — but they don't have hard drives connected.
Any ideas? Anybody got a current external 3401 manual?
