Phil, thanks again for the hint. I turns out that this is not that easy: it all starts with the fact, that the lofter lofts shapes _away_ from where you look at it. I can rotate the path 90 deg. (say in a left view) so it lofts in the Y direction (what I want) but on the same time the shape is mirrored. I can mirror the path after that as well (it's below the construction plane after that) and move it up. After this the shape is ok, but start and end vertices of the path are wrong. As long as I want to loft shapes without deformations and start- and end-caps this works alright. You can check this by trying to loft a simple 'building outline' in the shape of a letter i.e…..
