Personally, I am quite happy with the SANYO. I had it cranking continuously (I did a video post to VTR of about 12000 frames ) without a hitch and the result was outstanding. Picture quality is identical to the PANASONIC AG-7750 with a dB signal-to-noise ratio slightly higher using test instruments. Of course, I still would want the PAR for shorter animations but for my current needs, the SANYO works. Even with the PAR at $1995 you have to shell out for the drive and of course the recording VTR. The SANYO VTR also serves as my record deck for A/B roll editing. The second reason was my rationale for getting the Sanyo rather than the PAR. In the future I'd like to get the PAR or something similar like the MAX from Matrox (also for non-linear editing in addition to animation dumping). Compared to the single-frame accurate decks by SONY and PANASONIC the unit is not as impressive nor does it look/feel "heavy duty" but for the price — I'll take the SANYO. For info on the price, I paid $2500 for mine. Hope, this little info helps in your decision.
