Thanks for the explanation, Joe. I know about the auto-scroll to Mail for messages posted to a specific ID. Problem is, a good many of us use CIM, and CIM doesn't make it easy enough to reply to a specific user after one has read a complete thread, so replies are often labeled with the wrong person's UID. I myself have gotten better about not doing that (you'll notice this is addressed specifically to you), but it's still not anywhere near as easy to do as it should be. We finally did get the answer we needed, after asking the question again. Our client understood about the weather problems and gave us more time, but it was almost not enough.
