Matt, arp.library provides a file requester like the WB2.0 asl.library provides. There is a substitute for it. It is a greatly improved file-requester and when registered by the user (it is shareware, G SWREG) an authorization number provided via e-mail by the author releases a great many other features, like copy, move, delete, string search, File Finder, sort settings, edit wildcards, edit display settings, print directory… It can be called up anytime you need it on any screen or window. Fully sizeable and it provides you with a "history" list of what drawers/files were last chosen, also a user definable list of files your always using, but there are lots of other features, for example there is a way to select a path/filename and inject that text string into another less capable hard coded file-requester which FR couldn't bypass or use it in a text editor. Speaking of bypass, the name of the program, is FR_Bypass and it 'bypasses' the calls for arp, or asl, or req and directs them to kd_freq.library which will be the replacement for arp. You need to add a line in your user-startup calling FRBypass and place a copy of kd_freq.library in LIBS: I use Khalid's File-Requester everyday and its great, I like calling it up whenever I need to search for a file or need to 'inject' a filename somewhere. Look for FRQLIB.LHA LIB: 13 (LIBRARIES) in AmigaTech. An excellent File Requester that replaces the standard FR in WB2.0 and above, req FR and arp FR. Has way too many features to list here.
