Robb, Well, if CBM doesn't go down the tubes before someone buys the Amiga line to continue development and support, perhaps the Amiga will survive. Unfortunately, CBM's troubles are probably the main reason that AmigaDOS has really lagged in continued development and sophistication. Although it's still, in my opinion, the best desktop OS for a standalone PC, it could be slicker, more configurable in terms of appearance, and better supported by its developer (CBM). I do get a bit tired of this dull grey workbench background and often long for the more colorful and more configurable characteristics of Windows or OS/2. BTW, Novell DOS 7 showed up today and I just finished installing it. It doesn't really seem to be that much of an improvement over 6.0. It does have vastly more network support for network users. It also features both multi-tasking and task switching, but if you use multi-tasking you can only run Windows in standard mode. To run Windows in enhanced mode you need to use task-switching which is less desireable if you want to run DOS tasks in the background. Of course if you run Windows you probably don't care about running DOS apps in the background. It's memory management is also better than the old version and it fully supports DPMI. Beyond these few enhancements, it isn't a whole lot different from DRDOS 6. I sort of thought it was more of an OS replacement in the way that OS/2 is, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Or at least that's not apparent from what I can tell. It does replace MSDOS in the sense that it doesn't run on top of MSDOS.
