You can enter a shell and type "avail" (no quotes) and hit return. This command will report the amount of chip memory (in bytes). I've used MegaChips in both our 2000-based Toaster systems for a long, long time (Pre-Toaster 2.0), with only one problem way back when. The first MegAChip board I got was "Toasting" Super (2MB) Agnus chips. I sent it back to DKB and they replaced it, including the chip free of charge. That's what I call service. Operationally speaking, our need for the 2MB Chip came about when I was genlocking some DPaint anims over 24-bit Toaster backgrounds. Both the anims and the backgrounds changed alot, so I was easiest to have both the Toaster and DPaint running. Without the extra chip RAM, they wouldn't run together. I'd definatley recommend getting a MegAChip as soon as you can afford it, and as I hear, it's necessary for Toaster 3.1. Hope this helps! Trent K. Johnson ReAnimators
