Paul,
CD-i has sold way over 300K units and over a million discs… to end users. Its
titles (especially forthcoming ones) are said to blow all competition away in
depth of authoring (depends on your viewpoint and needs, of course). And
Philips is doing very well financially these days after slimming down.
So I doubt that Philips figures CD32 is "better and more successful", and I
can't think of any reason they'd want Commodore except perhaps because it was
such a steal they couldn't resist it. Although they are some Amiga fans at
Philips, so maybe those guys want to see it survive. I hope so.
