to get a really worthwhile PC will take some serious cash, once you
toss in buying the apps. What I'd do for now is get something like
FinalWriter or, perhaps, one of the competitors, and invest in a laser
printer, or high-end deskjet. That way, you have something that can do
papers, quite well I might add (that's what I use here), and you get a
serious printer that can move when/if you switch.
Keep in mind, what I would buy is at least a 486DX2/66 with 8 MB of RAM
and a 340 MB or better harddrive. Video should be SVGA, and the monitor
won't be too cheap. You'll need hardware of that category to keep up with
where the apps are going in the PC World. CPU, memory, and disk space
hungry, like a vampire!
Anything less will get left behind before you leave school.
