Jerry, With Smartdrv 5.0, just add the switches /x (to disable writeback cache), and /v (this will give you a readout telling you which drives are being cached and how – read and write). Windows runs like a dog without Smartdrive, or another software cache, so I keep it running, even with 3ds and have had no problems, writeback disabled of course. Every once in a while I'll run without it if I want that little extra bit of memory for rendering. David
