You're under the mistaken impression that 3DS "talks" to the alpha channel
stage of your Matrox board. That's not the way it works. 3DS generates FILE
alpha… it doesn't know anything about the alpha stage on the board. The file
alpha is used by 3DS and other programs as compositing information.
