Hi Scott,
>> I would like to see an application that would allowed me to create a sound
track then record it on a VTR starting at a particular frame.
None of our current product offerings are intended for this purpose,
and as such, don't support it. Depending on the level of
control/interaction between the audio editing app and the VTR, you
would at the very least need some sort of timing/synchronization
information coming from the VTR into the PC (i.e., SMPTE, MIDI, Sony
Frame Code, or something of that sort) for the app to be aware of
timing/playback offsets on the VTR source, or possibly communications
going both ways, if you wanted the app to actually control the VTR
source.
Since decks that are widely available/affordable don't really supply
a universal standard, it's difficult to produce a PC-based "audio for
video" editing suite with consumer equipment, but manageable with
professional equipment. However, because we make all our products
very affordable ($59.95 SRP and lower), it's imperative that we stick
to the "widely available" capabilities currently available.
Thanks for your interest. Hope I answered your question (as opposed to leaving
you more confused than when I started!)
