Regarding screenblankers, there's one included in our "FastFonts"
package. It's small (about 1500 bytes used while running), and
rather than "blanking" the screen it dims the colors, so you can
still see the display if you look closely. I'd love to be able
to detect display output as well as inputs, but alas there are too
many different display functions to be able to practically monitor
all of them, not to mention the performance issues. Having said
that, of course somebody else will find a way to do it…
