>>user view -> camera view…
Gayle,
Just catching up on messages here. I use the following method to align a
camera with a user view. Quick, and not too dirty. <g>
– Create a small sphere ("target sphere") an place it in the
midst of your scene.
– In the desired UserView, move the "target sphere" until it is
as close as you can get it to the center of the viewport. If you
draw diagonals on the monitor with a marker this is easier.
– Move a copy of the sphere ("camera sphere") away from the center
of the scene and towards the viewer. The further away, the better.
– Save the user viewport ("[") and zoom extents. In the UserView,
select the "camera sphere" and move it till it is aligned in the
viewport with the "target sphere". Zoom in as necessary for a
precise alignment.
– Create a camera. In any two ortho views (e.g., top and front),
move the target to the center of "target sphere". Move the camera
to the center of "camera sphere".
– Restore the user view ("{"). Use Camera/Dolly and
Camera/Perspective until the camera view matches the user view.
Hide the spheres.
The whole thing only takes a couple of minutes.
