Not much except to say that over here in the UK most PC direct sales or component mail order companies have a hardware cache controller of some sort. Promise is very big and from the US but manufactures in the far east. My controller is a Promise DC4030VL-2 it has a dedicated 80286 just to handle the hard disk I/O, it has a maximum cache of 16Mb and upto 4 IDE drives. It speeded my disk activity up by about 10 times. With 3D Studio, the bigger the cache the better! Rich
