Traditional 2d animators have used 2's for all but the fastest moving
characters. 2's in film translates to 12 images per second. Even though 2's in
video is 15 images per second it dosent seem to work as well for 3d work and
often gives a jerky look when the camera is moving. I dont think it has
anything to do with the par, its true for any type output. On the other hand
Ive had folks that swear by field rendering ( 60 per second ) not be able to
tell the difference when something is frame rendered. The composition of the
scene is a big factor. For example, a light object moving across a dark
background is the worst for showing the strobe effect. Since a lot of 3d work
is space stuff or logos the jerkyness really shows up. In other situations
frames or even 2's may work fine IMHO.
