Michael,
there are a number of capture systems using different technologies. Some use
mechanical linkages, which can be very limiting to motion. Others use video to
track dots or balls stuck on joints. Others, like the Ascension Flock of Birds,
use a collection of magnetic trackers. All work to some degree but have
problems.
