Of course he writes Orchestration and has Degree's in music from both Boston Music and Berkley so I gotta go with what he says. << IMHO, the "piece of paper" is moot. when i hear anyone talk about degrees, to me that translates as "years away from the real world"… accumulated knowledge only goes so far before you pay the price of no-experience. 🙂 i have degrees too, and they aren't worth jack when generating this stuff. its all concept, creativity, ingenuity with the toolsets, communication skills and the right attitude for each project. if he writes orchestration, he's probably a decent musician (and perhaps he's looking at from an audio-technical perspective as i look at it from a visually technical perspective), but comparing "his" work to anyone else's (like Dolby's) seems like apples and oranges and a matter of taste at best. Box 8131 Green Bay, Wisconsin 54308-8131 << thanks! i hope i don't seem like a snob here, James, i'm really not.<g> i'm just inherently cautious around "experts"… my methods change by the day, and as a musician also (25 years piano/keyboards/synth) i've learned that there's no one "right way" of doing this stuff (or writing effective music for it). Mozart wrote some great stuff too, but there's a time and a place for it, if you know what i mean. Same for Dolby. -dave
