You were right, Monet did go through a Haystack period. <g> And interestingly
enough the work Haystacks in the Snow is part of the Ryerson Collection at…
you guessed it, The Art Institute of Chicago.
That's pretty obscure but considering that the Merchantile exchange is in
Chicago it would make sense that some well to do's would have bought some
Monet's with Haystacks. I'm sorry but I find this very funny. <g> I don't think
of Haystacks and Monet. BTW these illustrations of Haystacks are in BW and
3"x3". 🙂
He is much better known for his water lillies. Jeez he did so much good work,
and they're scattered all over the world. Its so difficult to get a collection
of works like this together. You were really fortuneate to be able to see it.
They say its getting to the point that because of insurance etc. that these big
tours are going to be a thing of the past.

Yeah well that's been tried, and not at all successfully. I became more
determined than ever. <g>

Actually it does, it just doesn't allow you to use it in any other fashion. You
can see what you're rendering if you're rendering directly to it. All in all
its not a bad way to go but I think having a framebuffer is a must, and that
being the case, the Max, I think becomes a better value. But then again it
really depends on what kind of work you do. Alot of people here doing gaming
type work and in that situation its not nearly as important. Alot of games are
viewed on SVGA monitors anyway. But video work is another story totally, you
really need a framebuffer. One of the really nice features of the Max, though
not terribly important, is that the hard drive doesn't have to be dedicated to
the MAX. And as a result its alot more stable over a network. This is because
the bus speeds on an EISA are fast enough. On the PAR the harddrive is attached
directly to it, and there have been problems with file corruption etc. Its a
trade off. The PAR is supposed to be coming out in SCSI finally, and I think
that will make a difference in terms of picture quality. The heart of the Par
and the Max are the same BTW. They both use the same compression chip.
Don't know if I'm going to get to the library but I'm going to try.
Yes I am a touch typist… I thought that was a funny comment but then I
realised probably alot of people aren't. 🙂
