Hi Gayle, PMJI — last week I went to the new Monet exhibit at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. This is a collection of Claude's later work (>1900) mostly of scenes from his garden at Giverny. This was the period during which his eyesight had deteriorated _and_ he when had developed his more abstract style. Although I did not see any haystacks I have read that he did produce many haystack works (same stacks, different angles, different light levels). And some of his later, heavy abstract work is so abstract that they could be haystacks — hard to tell. (I'm an art simpleton and I much prefer his earlier, less abstract, work.) Alec Jason
