Thanks for the info on printers. I rely on services bureaus
for everything but inkjet prints. It may be that I need to take
control and buy my own dye sub.
I'm still not sure why I get so much banding in CMYK,
especially on complex curved surfaces. I'm wondering if I'm asking
too much of 3D Studio. Maybe it's 48 bit color space is not up to
representing well a wide brightness range on a single color complex
surface.
