WarpEngined 3000
Erik-
Try out HDInstTools, which is in a file called Oktins.lha, I think, in the libs
here. It's Oliver Kastl's, of Oktagon fame, and it's first rate. Put a
DEVICE= tooltype, and use the menu item Expert Mode. It's worth a try, anyway.
My replacement drive just came in today. I hope I don't have that problem.
I'll have to check out the termination resistors next time I open up the
machine. I finally managed to get my 3000 to boot without the tape drive
attached–by sticking a pass-through passive terminator on the end of the cable
and leaving the cable on. I haven't even installed the external WE connector
yet, because I don't see how I can do it with the materials included. There's
the external adaptor cable, and a little connector that's supposed to go in a
Zorro slot port, but I don't think it's big enough to fit by itself. And most
of all, I don't think the internal ribbon cable that came with the WE will
reach and still allow an internal hd. So I'm going to have to call Dennis
again, about that and the termination issue.
This whole thing is so lame. I promised Jason at Amiga Report a review of the
WarpEngine over a month ago, and I still haven't finished it. I'd gotten 2/3s
through, and then had to reformat my Work partition. 🙁 I do have a printout
somewhere though.
Arrgghh!!
