I take it you tried the freeware AAPLAYHI? VPIC + SLIDSEHW (both shareware).
My favorite which has all of the wipes, fades, fizzles, text/titles, sound,
animation, etc. is a program called ImageQ from Image North. ProVantage will
snag about $550 +/- for it but it really rivals most higher cost authoring
packages.
