Christie; TAR is a Unix archive handling program that has been ported to just about every computer and OS made. The fish disks have Amiga versions of TAR and there probably is a copy in the libraries here. TAR is independent as far as the nature of the files with which it deals. TARGA, Toaster, executables, GIFs, TIFFs, IFFs, and ASCIIs are all the same to it. As to the DAT and Exabyte… if the tapes were not written with TAR then it is unlikely that TAR can do anything with the tape. The best software for using an MSDOS type drive on the Amiga is the latest version of CrossDOS (a commercial product). -bill
