Is the C= name and logo strong enough to sell the computers? Probably not on its own. However, put yourself in the position of a first time buyer who has no deatiled information on C= history. You walk into the store, and you see a C= box, and a Joe's computer box. Which one do you think is a name brand? Here in Sacramento CA, we have a large computer store called Computer Warehouse. They have tried for over 7 years to establish Packintell as a brand that they would like to sell. In the same time frame, the Packard Bell name was bought up, and applied to a clone computer. Since the name had been aorund for year, on radios etc. (till they went belly up), they stuck on the slogan, "America grew up listening to us, it still does." Neither is enough to sell boxes, but it is enough to get people comfortable with the name, and a willingness to consider it as a purchase.
