Thanks for your (and Rick Green's) suggestion to replace my monitor switchbox to clear up the ghosting. Although it turned out the switchbox was not at fault, your messages did put me on the right track. Since I purchased a decent quality switchbox in the first place, I thought I would try and contact switchbox manufacturers to see what they had to say. I eventually reached someone at Belkin Components who knew exactly what the problem was and that she had helped a couple of other people with the same problem. All I had to do was purchase a couple of special cables. When she said they were expensive I figured 20 or 30 dollars a piece. They were $72.95 each!!! And on top of that she wouldn't guarantee results and since they were custom made they were not returnable. Since she sounded pretty confident the cables were the problem and I had no other choice (and the ghosting was driving me crazy), I decided to give the cables a try. They arrived yesterday. They were pretty beefy looking and besides the model numbers, printed on the cables was "Space shuttle low voltage computer cables." Well, if they didn't clear up the ghosting I would at least have the coolest, most expensive cables in the neighborhood. Fortunately, they worked perfectly. My picture is now crystal clear from both computers. If anybody wants the Belkin lady's address and phone number please feel free to email me. Thanks again for your help. – Steve –
