In search of really cool wallpaper…
Vision X Software, Inc. is presently developing Windows
software that will showcase various Wallpaper designs from
around the world. If you are a graphic artist or just
someone who likes creating interesting wallpaper, we invite
you to submit them!
What's in it for you:
1. Your artwork will get national — perhaps even
international — exposure. Our product will be an
inexpensive way for thousands of people to put your
wallpaper on their PCs.
2. Every wallpaper of yours that is put in front of the
user will be accompanied by YOUR name.
3. Next to your name there will be a button the user can
press to get more information about you, including a
short bio and how they can reach you.
4. In addition, the user will be able to bring up a list
of all the featured artists — so this program will
also serve as a "yellow pages" of talent. Don't worry,
though — your work won't be lost among thousands of
others. We are only selecting the top 300 or so.
5. Finally, if we include 3 or more of your submissions,
Vision X, as a token of thanks, will send you a
complimentary copy of the software (whoopee!).
Here's how it works:
1. We are interested only in TILED wallpaper. That means
small patterns that tile seamlessly together. The
usual size is 96×96 pixels, or 128×128, but you can go
as high as 256×256. And your pattern doesn't have to
be perfectly square, either.
2. The wallpaper will be seen on thousands of PCs, but our
users may only have 256-color capability. Make sure
you account for that. You can send us 24-bit files if
you like, but if we can't make a clean conversion to
256 colors, we won't accept it.
3. Your total submission(s) should not exceed 500 KB. If
we really like your work, we'll contact you and ask
for more!
4. Please don't send 25 tiles you dashed off in 25 minutes
by taking every texture Kai's Power Tools threw at you.
Be creative. Express yourself. Make a pattern of a
thousand eyeballs if you like. You CAN submit KPT
stuff, of course, but we already have LOTS of those,
so priority will go to the real creative stuff.
5. We will TRY to reply to everyone who submits, but
priority will go to those who we have accepted.
6. There is N-O-O-O …. rule 6!!!
7. All files submitted must be in Windows BMP format.
Compress your files into a single ZIP file, along with
a README.TXT file that includes your name, your email
address, your postal address, and a paragraph or two
about you (no more that 250 words). If you have titles
for your works, include them as well. If you do not
have titles, we will make them up. Also (if you like),
include a short description of how you produced each work
(the tools and methods you used).
8. Don't worry — your personal information will NEVER be
sold to any mailing list company.
9. VERY IMPORTANT: Name your zip file using your first two
initials followed by the first 6 (six) letters of your
last name. This will help us to keep track of you and
your submissions.

10. The subject line of your email to us should say
COOL WALLPAPER.
11. Tell your friends and colleagues to submit, too!
12. Submission deadline is 31-May-1995.
13. By submitting your work, you agree not to be compensated
for your submission(s) other than what has been mentioned
in this document. You also agree that Vision X Software
Inc. retains all rights to use your submission(s) in other
forms and other software.
