I made two training videos — one of them thirty minutes long — without
even having a VCR! The secret is this: rent time instead of buying the
equipment. Look up "Video Production" in your Yellow Pages, and call the
local Amiga dealer, to find editing suites that have an Amiga.
Then you'll be able to edit your live video, Amiga animations, etc., onto
a single master tape and dub audio over it later. Of course, you'd also be
able to do any overlays or titling you'd want to do. The cost would
probably be about $25 an hour, maybe a little more. If your tape is short
enough that might be the way to go. To edit it piece by piece without a
flying erase head would probably cost more than $25 an hour if a price
could be put on frustration and mental anguish! Plus it might look more
amateurish than you wanted.
Remember that if you save money and cut corners on quality, you might end
up with a tape that you don't even want to show to customers or clients!
