#Kampfgruppe?
Thomas,
I have Kampfgruppe. My dealer (Lakes Consumer Electronics in Akron) says
he's had it intermittantly for 2 weeks. It seems pretty good, but I want to
goof with it for awhile before I give it an unqualified recommendation. I also
bought Computer Baseball and it didn't look too bad at first. But with
continued play, its darker side came out.
Back to Kampfgruppe, I have the C-64 versions of Mech Brigade and
Battlegroup, but not Kampfgruppe, so I cannot directly compare. They have
modified the user interface extensively, using mouse and text windows. Seems a
bit clumsy to me, but I think it is more a case of getting used to it than
actual clumsiness. I think that multipage windows may have a slight bug; it
seems that sometimes the pages loop, i.e. on a two page list of possible
targets, next page never stops functioning, looping around between the pages.
Until you figure it out, it seems that you have an infinite number of enemies.
Digitized sound, very, _very_ nice, at least at first. It may drive you
crazy eventually. Different shell sizes sound with different pitches, nice
touch. Very clean graphics, manual is the old one with Amiga inserts, but this
causes no problem. One feature which non-manual readers need to be aware of is
that it asks questions at boot as a copy protection feature; it is not copy
protected. Hope that doesn't hurt sales; I'd hate to see SSI drop the Ami due
to !@#$% pirates.
I'd like to see other opinions of it. If I change my opinion of it, I will
post a message in the future.
