George: The info you need is the total number of blocks available on the drive. Divide that number by a conveneint number of heads and blocks per track and make up your mountlist accordingly. I have not tried 2 heads yet but probably will the next time that I format a drive from scratch. You will have to mount RES2: as well as the partition that you are trying to format. I don't know why but for some reason format picks up the starting cly ok but misses the fact that this number will probably be larger than the number of cyls to go unless RES2: is mounted. 73, bill
