#A2000 Bible
Funny you should ask. I just started using C. Ltd's C-Key replacement
keyboard. In my case, I HATED the 2000 kbd. A friend of mine describes it as
like typing in sand 😉 Anyway, C's got one for $139. It comes with an
adapter for the A1000. My only real complaint is rather picky. It apears that
what C. Ltd. does is buy 101 key keyboards and replaces the ROMs to issue the
proper codes for the Amiga. All well and good so far. The problem is they
sort of went too far. If you are familiar with the 101 enhanced kbd. you know
that there are really three key areas. The middle one duplicates the Ins, Del,
Home, End, Pg Op, and Pg Dn functions available on the numeric keypad. Well on
the C.-Key kbd. instead of doing this they define these keys to do what they
think are "useful" things. e.g. the Del key is "Format drive df0: name " If
you only use the Amy, this is fine, but switching back and forth with a PC 101
kbd. is crazy-making. I've got lots of "formats" in my WP documents so far 😉
What I want to know (are you listening C. Ltd ???) is why they didn't pass the
non-std. keycodes through and provide a program to intercept them. Thus the
user could define them to be whatever he/she wanted. For example, one key is
"Dir" Well, since the IRQ virus, I no longer *have* a command called "Dir". Oh
well pretty picky I admit.
In conclusion, I like the keyboard. If this is to steep ($$$ wise) let me
know, I *might* be persuaded to sell my, no obsolete 2000 kbd. with the 1000
adapter. Good luck !
