Hooks for third party hardware ought to continue to be built into the system. Its extensibility is a feature that will allow third parties to come in and develop hardware, and use existing hardware, but adapt it to the Amiga. This would tend to bring the Amiga more into the perceived "mainstream" and IMHO, increase its acceptibility to consumers. On the developer side, this openness, COMBINED WITH A DEMONSTRATED WILLINGNESS ON CBM's PART TO SUPPORT DEVELOPERS would increase the hardware availability for the Amiga. On this last note, an important aside, I do not presume to speak for the many developers, both software and hardware, who visit here. But my perception has been that they feel that CBM support is difficult to come by, at best, and is downright impossible to get in the worst case. What to do? Increase developer involvement in the 1.4 development. Now. While the keyboards of the programmers are hot! C'mon, kick a little internal butt at CBM! Pass these suggestions along, and poll the developers on line here. I think you'll find this represents somewhat of a consensus view. *whew*!
