Life's a beach John. That's how life was back then. and the damsels being rescued were _ladies_, not peasants, therefore they were put on a pedestal. Amounting to anything didn't even enter it. There are many, many, many, many ridiculous things about our modern 'egalitarian ' society… but that's _our_ society. If it works, no member of another society should sneer at it. Wife beating in this country is considered a crime… I once read of a tribe of 'primitives' (Yanomamo?) who think that if you don't beat your wife, it means you don't love her. 'Take over peoples' land. D*mn straight. That's how life worked. The Saxons wanted the same land that the Normans wanted. Would we handle it any differently today?? If so, howso? Defender of the Crown may not be the ultimate in games, but it's a large advance over Space Invaders. –Eet–
