Harry, My 1080 (a 1985-vintage model, he said proudly) can display any of the AGA chipset's 15.75 kHz (or thereabouts) modes…basically everything with a vertical resolution of 200 or 400 (interlaced) lines. Non-interlaced modes like 640×480 and newer interlaced modes like 800×600 and 640×800 are beyond the 1080's capability; you'll need a multiscanning monitor to use them. Color resolution is no problem…the 1080 displays 8-bit (256 color) and HAM8 images just fine. I have an NEC MultiSync 3FGx connected to my A3000…it's a gorgeous monitor, but it doesn't sync down below approx. 30 kHz so I don't intend to use it much with the 1200. I also have a Mitsubishi DiamondScan 1381; it's a multiscanning monitor that can sync down to 15 kHz…as soon as I get a 23-to-15 pin cable adaptor (nearly all multiscanning monitors will require one of these) I'll connect it to the 1200. With the DiamondScan I'll be able to use all the AGA's modes.
