Mike, the only monitors which are designed to completely fill the screen are those that are based on television technology like IBM CGA or the normal Amiga display. Higher scan rate monitor standards have a black border around the active display region. Both VGA and multiscan type monitors behave this way. My four year old NEC Multisync has about 5/8 inch of border on either side which is typical. The Taxan 770 Plus and the new Commodore A1950 have a wider range of horizontal size adjustment than most and can be set up for very narrow borders. The NEC 3D is a bit more expensive than most, but NEC has a very good reputation for reliability. Many people like the Mitsubishi AUM-1381A which is the only multiscan I know of with a composite input. The Mitsubishi usually is available at a good price, but has a relatively wide border at high scan rates. You might want to look at a file named FFINFO.ARC which lists a number of compatible monitors. It is in the hardware library of AmigaTech.
