Melissa – I'm planning a home-based Amiga video/animation business, and I'm trying to figure out what hardware & software to buy. From browsing the forums I gather you were one of the developers of the popular music software Bars & Pipes; from the June issue of AmigaWorld I see you were just elected to the Executive Board of the Amiga Developers Association. As an expert on audio for the Amiga, could you answer a few questions? First, could you explain how music programs and audio-editing programs are related? Can a music generate sound effects, or a sound effects program be used to create music? I want to sync sound to animation; I doubt I'll be composing music; do I need both music *and* audio software? I say I won't be composing music, but I might want to organize sound to the point that it is "music-like" — e.g., what if I want to do computerized sound editing and a sound-mix for a short film or video? Could something akin to the filmworld process of "building" dialogue, music and effects tracks be accomplished using existing software? If so, would that be music software, like Bars & Pipes, or audio software like Perfect Sound? Thanks for your help and congratulations on your election. — Mark Segall
