In similar situations I try to find a knowledgeable engineering type in my
area who can take a look at the equipment. I agree, factory service ain't
what it used to be.
Maybe you should get on the BPFORUM and see if someone over there might be
local to you or at least be able to refer you on to someone.
BTW, the other question on my mind is, how old is your BRS-810U? If it's
less than a couple of years old, if you become slightly hysterical and make
LOTS AND LOTS of noise at JVC, you might be able to push them into
replacing it (there's a technique to this). Might be worth a try if what
you have is a lemon.
