The problem with you mac assumption is that it isn't true. I had a IIfx three days after the announcement by Apple. I moved my 600M hard disk full of software from my II to the IIfx, installed the newest (and shipping) version of the operating system(6.05) and was back in business in less than 30 minutes. I routinely use 40-60 Mac Applications and bushel basket full of utilities, inits and cdevs. So far (1 month later) everything runs except an oddball IEEE 488 interface control program. I'm not looking for a religious war on Macs vs Amigas but I get the general impression that there is less rigidly enforced standardization on the Amiga which might result in more "new machine" problems. My impression that "nothing works" on the 3000 was gathered from messages here.
