Mike, Those of us with '020 or '030 cards use SetCPU to move the kickstart ROM to 32 bit ram for speed! The kickstart rom on the A2000 is on the 16 bit bus and can only be accessed at the same speed as the 68000 could. Once moved to 32 bit ram, the ROM image is now accessable on a 32 bit bus, and at a much higher speed, probably with 0 or 1 wait states. On the 3000, the ROM will be on a 32 bit bus, so access is already twice as fast compared to a 16 bit bus. The speed the rom can be accessed depends on the acces time of the ROMs that will be used, and how many wait states will be used. So, as I see it, on the 3000 there may be a minor speedup having the kickstart in RAM, it would probably be under 50% faster. On the 2500/20 it is probably on the order of 300% faster. The other consideration is how much ram one is willing to give up. 1.3 is 256K bytes of ram, while 2.0 is 512k bytes. On my machine (2500/20) I will probably still map the rom to 32 bit ram (Hopefully there will be a SetCPU v 1.6), leaving me with 3.5 meg 32 bit ram. If I had a 3000, even though it can have much more 32 bit ram, the speed improvement would not be worth loosing 512K bytes of ram (to me anyway). 73, Kelly
