Mackie 1.4
Mackie does one thing I havent seen in any other Hot key utility. It
allows you to bring a window to the front that is keyed to the same key
you used to trigger the program in the first place. ( what ??)
Example.(1) I have the W key progammed so that by depressing "Help W"
Whap will be fired up but if Whap is already running Mackie will just bring
the Whap screen to the front.
Example.(2) I have the Space bar programmed so that by depressing "Help
space" Mackie will bring to the front an open Cli if one is open, and if
one is not open it will open a newcli.
This implies that Mackie can issue intuition type commands to Screens or
Windows. To the best of my knowledge ClockDj does not have this type of
capability, to bring screens to the front using ClockDj you would have to
write an Arexx script and use the RexxArpLib commands to tell each
individual screen to come to the front if that screen existed and if it
wasnt running then issue a "Run Programx". This also doesnt address the
problem of controlling screens on the Workbench which ClockDj cant do
either. All of this is done in Mackie with a simple startup script so I
dont have to write and debug complex Arexx scripts, filling up an already
big Rexx: directory.
ClockDj is good. I use it as a clock and memory meter. I just prefer the
style and ease of use of Mackie.
I am currently using version 1.3 and wonder if you or anyone else have
the more recent version 1.4 on FF305, Would they please upload it?
