Pete: I haven't seen PVP in action, but it sure sounds nifty. I would guess that PVP's speed and smoothness are a result of the effects being "canned." By that I mean, you have little or no control over them. This permits the program to optimize these moves for speed. For example, flips and tumbles around a single axis are very easily optimized. The fact that PVP expects a screen of certain dimensions and depth, also makes it easier to optimize the effects. DPAINT, AnimMagic and others permit greater flexibility so cannot benefit from some of these tricks. Just illustrates the benefits of specialization. You said the playback of the animation was quick. How many different frames are generated for a given effect?
