Jonathan,
Until it's released, it isn't a buyable product. To me, that makes it
vapor. You can call it whatever you want, you just can't call it "yours".
That's my point.
Regarding scaling, didn't see it – so can't comment. There may be other
issues. As a for instance, our scaling can scale up AND down at the same
time, something that distinguishes it from the scaling in AdPro – and
possibly from Mirage. Scaling quality may also be an issue. Dunno – when
and if it's released, we, and you, will know. And of course, whatever they
do, we'll do our best to do better. Competition is just fine with us. We
welcome them to the market (when they get there).
I'm sure Mirage is "real" (unless it's a mirage?), but that doesn't mean
it'll make it to a "product". Long, long way between what you saw at WOA
and a product. I know Kermit a bit (he is a HAM-E customer, and the
feature-list for for Mirage reads exactly like a clone of Image
Professional / Imagemaster, which we take as quite a complement :^)…
anyway, he is a nice enough fellow and seemed to be quite responsible and
so on for what dealings we had with him. GVP is of course also a pretty
good company. Not saying anything else – except, not released, not
something you can buy – and there you go.
EGS: again, when it's out, we'll think about it – that's all I can tell you
now; we're just not an organization that spends time on other peoples
"maybe" products. When and if it appears, we'll give it a good hard look,
and go from there. If CBM released DIG before this comes out, then not a
chance… issues like that can throw predictions out the window, hence I
prefer not to waste time trying to make them.
Let me point at the SAGE stuff as an example. When it came out, we had it
supported within days. Previous to that, we ignored it. Digital Micronics
used Imagemaster to demo SAGE the first time it was shown in public, at the
Canadian WOA show last year. Likely we'll do EGS the same way, assuming CBM
doesn't intervene. Now, consider the Supra FAXmodem. We said
