#Windows and CD-ROM

I've *never* been able to run my CD-ROM drive from Windows 3.0, 3.1 or
MS-DOS 5.0 using the MCSDEX.EXE v2.21 currently available for downloading
from MSL-1 (as CDEXT.EXE) here on CompuServe. It will invariably cause a
system lockup or crash. I get flawless operation in both Windows and DOS
with the v2.20 of MSCDEX.EXE that came with my drive. V2.20 requires the
SETVER.EXE in my CONFIG.SYS for MS-DOS 5.0 but that's always been there
anyway. Since I have no problems with v2.20, this hasn't been an important
issue with me, but it certainly *IS* strange and I'd like to know why.
