And why not? The 68020 chip was around in 87 (I forget the exact year it came out). I think CBM could have sold a 68020-based Amiga for around $2600 even then (of course, retail would have been higher, but lets not forget that the 2500 retailed for $4600 and one could be had for around $3000.
