#How to terminate drive

Actually, there is a little window with a number showing through it for the drive ID, which can be incremented somehow — I left it at 0, since this is my only SCSI drive. Since the dealer said he thought the drive didn't need to be terminated, I decided to go ahead and try it anyway. I installed the drivers, but couldn't get the system to recognize the drive. After some discussion with someone at MS tech. support (I thought I might need updated drivers), I pinpointed the problem — the setup program had placed the MSCDEX line at the end of my AUTOEXEC.BAT file, after a batch file that runs CHKDSK on each drive, and it was not being reached. I moved it higher, and then was able to access the drive both inside and outside of Windows. Then I tried installing the MS Bookshelf, and ran into a problem with not being able to save the SETUP.INF file. I found a fix for that in a message about that very problem I saved from WinAdvanced a while back, and then I installed the DeLorme Street Atlas, and had problems with it which turned out to be related to installing it under Norton Desktop instead of Windows — I reinstalled it with Program Manager as my shell, and still had the problem, but then after talking to DeLorme tech. support I put the ATLAS directory in as the working directory, and now it works fine. -=- Helen Feddema | Kerhonkson, NY | 05-12-92 at 09:44am EST -=-
