Mark,
I've updated with the patch and the problem still occurs, however I have
been able to do a successful backup. The sequence of events that causes the
lock-up goes like this, I start the program from workbench and select the
partition I want to backup and click on the backup gadget. The program
proceeds to read all the files & directories then displays the list. I
would then proceed to untag certain directories that I did not wish to
backup. I would then select proceed and start the backup. The program would
operate properly until it reached the last file in a directory immidiately
preceeding a directory that had been untagged at which point the program
would lock-up, sometimes with an error message, somtimes not.
Another procedure I tried was to select the partition to backup and to
untag all the files & directories & then tag 1 directory to backup. If that
directory was the first in the list the program would operate until it
reached to within approx. 200 bytes of the last file in the directory at
which point the program would lock-up. If the directory was anything but
the first directory the program would lock-up as soon as I selected the
start gadget.
I then tried Entering the partition instead of selecting it for backup, and
then select an individual directory for backup. This time the program did
not lock-up and the backup was successfully completed. I did this with
another directory in another partition and again the program operated
properly with no lock-up.
I then selected my system partition for backup again but this time I left
all the files & directories tagged and simply started the backup process.
The program operated normally with no lock-ups.
I haven't tried a restore operation yet, but when I do I let you know the
results if your interested.
Anyway I hope this information is useful, let me know if you come up with
anything.
Thanks, Paul D.
