I just want to jump in here regarding lossy compression, since concern has been mentioned about it several times recently on this forum. In recent issues of Seybold, compression techniques have been discussed at length. Standard JPEG, while lossy, results in almost utterly indistinguishable loss of actual image quality, as demonstrated by 4-color prints of original and JPEGed files. In fact, to my eye (tho' this had to be wrong) the compressed one looked a little better, here and there. As a bit of background, I've been an artist for 30+ years, work with computer graphics people at work, have a good eye and sit on the right hand of God <g>. Hope that imparts a bit of useful info.
