earlier chipsets for which the HAM-E was designed to work with work fine on multisyncs _without_ using the adaptor, but neither the HAM-E nor AGA work very well w/o the adaptor; However _Commodore_ took care to supply an adaptor with the A4000. It would seem that besides scan rates, Amiga video actually is non-standard RGB. That argument that it is the users responsibility to know of an adaptor when the only way of knowing was to purchase a Commodore VGA monitor just doesn't hold up, especially when considering that I was talking to an Amiga video display vendor which knew explicitly that I was using a Sony (having told them we were going from a 1084 to a Sony.. how could they assume we knew of such a connector??). Further, one should never assume anything and fail to mention an adapter when discussing the cable connections! To do such a thing is simply unprofessional and reeks of carelessness. -Chris
